Wisconsin Conference - United Church of Christ
Lisa Hart the Youth Coordinator for the Wisconsin Conference UCC youth ministries
What
are all these retreats you’re talking about…? A short explanation to the Conference Youth Programs
Knock
Knock Knock Knock is for Middle School students, grades 6-8. It is designed as a retreat for church groups. Church groups sign up together and stay together through the 5 “doors” (workshops) our leaders open. This gives your group and your youth leaders a good opportunity to bond as a group and experience this weekend together, perhaps re-connecting your Middle Schoolers or forming them into a group for the first time when they start their life in a new school after a long summer. The founding verse of Knock
Knock is Revelation
3.20: “Listen!
I am standing at the door, knocking. If you hear my voice and open the door, I
will come in to you and eat with you, and you with me.” The workshop-doors are dealing in creative ways with themes that are
especially important when youth make the transition from elementary school and
childhood to Middle School and adolescence: Family, friendship, hurt, and influence. The fifth workshop is a
play-shop. Although you go through the “doors” with your church group, there is plenty of time in between to get to know the youth from the other churches and have fun together. Something special at Knock Knock
is that we have a team of High School
youth who help lead the workshop through drama skits and serve as “peer
leaders” for the younger youth … to assure them that it’s possible to
survive Middle School… Jesus Core - Retreat for High School Students, individually or with their church groups. Experience faith in community, meaningful worship and great music, silence and time for prayer, getting to know new people and hanging out with friends. Rest from the stress of school, listen to God’s word, connect with yourself and others, and find satisfaction in silence and in fun activities. Be inspired by the songs of musician Andra Moran (andramoran.com), by the beauty of God’s Creation on Green Lake, and by workshops and discussions with adult leaders and your peers. The Plunge - This retreat is designed for the high school youth who would like to "plunge" deeper into their faith and answer God's call, who want to know more about God, and who have theological questions about the Bible... about the questions of suffering in the world...about social justice...or about the afterlife. This retreat will focus on spiritual exercise, quiet time, and reflection. Forms ;

sponsoring the T-shirts for NYE 2008 but we want youth to decide what goes on
the back! Write a slogan or a bit of haiku. Choose a quote from a famous person
or a verse from the Bible. String together a list of verbs or pose a question.
For inspiration, start with the theme for NYE 2008 Living the Life: Living
Green, Living Peace, Living Love. Or consider the Cornerstone Fund's
tagline: Investing from the heart. Building for the future. Then let your
imagination soar. The possibilities are limited only by your creativity. No
rules, really just remember to keep it appropriate to NYE 2008, and keep it
tasteful. Send your entry (or entries!) to nye2008tshirtcontest@gmail.com
(one entry per email; no attachments or images, please). Be sure to include your
name, address, phone number, age and church name. One winner will receive a free

to know more? Youth Worker Network The Conference Youth Ministry Team (CYMT) has set up an email group for youth leaders working/volunteering in the Wisconsin Conference. This gives youth leaders a chance to network with each other, share resources, and the joys and frustrations of working in youth ministry. If
you would like to join this group, please send an email to wcucc_youth_leaders-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
. Please put "subscribe" in the subject line. The
moderators of the group will then be able to add you to the group. If you
have any questions, or difficulty subscribing, please contact
Lisa Hart at
